I believe Arroyo, Saarel, and Malone have the best raw speed! So, if they are there at the bell lap, it will be one hell of a race. I pick Malone!!!!!!
Malone will be in this if they go out in 2:10 which is certainly possibly his weakness seems to be strength can he hold on to the pace seeing as there are 4 under 8:50 in this meet. Even if it is slower , it is more likely arroyo wins in a sprint finish.

Has Burcham done anything notable this season? I saw his sub-9 at Arcadia, but other than that, I haven't seen any big runs from him so far. Any other possible suspects who could qualify? Ben Malone? Jacob Thomson?
Malone, Thomson, and Baker have all been invited.
No word on Bakers commitment as it is the same day as his state meet.
Arroyo 3:58.7. blazing speed we haven't seen since alan webb.
Montoya 3:58.8. just an all around beast and is clearly in shape to do it.
Saarel 3:59.5. absolutely the heart of a champion. this kid has balls.
Cheserek, Burcham, Malone, McGorty all fighting for the next few spots.
its going to be an incredible race. hoping to God they have pace setters and come around at 2:00-2:02
They all should agree to run the Midwest Distance Classic. That race will have a rabbit. Charlie Kern will take everyone through in 2:02.
How many will be in the race?
Why wasn't last year's called back? One official was giving directions to Cheserek when the gun went off and Cheserek got a late start.
It wasn't called back though.
BOYS’ DREAM MILE:
Bernie Montoya, Yuma, AZ, defending Dream Mile champion, 4:01.32 PB; and Andres Arroyo, Orlando, FL, 1:47.79 800m this season #1 US and #6 all-time, 4:04.45 1600m #1 US
Sean McGorty, Chantilly, VA, #1 US Mile (4:04.47) in winning 2013 Penn Relays, #2 3200m (8:46.07)
Ben Saarel, Park City, UT, #1 US 3000m (8:18.98 ) and 3200m (8:45.74)
Edward Cheserek, Newark, NJ, who broke the national indoor HS 2-mile record at the 2013 Millrose Games (8:39.15) and also holds the 5K mark (13:57.04)
Connor Mora, Cedar Springs, MI, #1 US 1500m (3:49.36)
James Randon, Townsend, MA, #2 US 1500m (3:49.43)
Ben Malone, River Vale, NJ, #2 US Mile (4:05.59) as runner-up to McGorty at Penn Relays
Jacob Thomson, Louisville, KY, 10-time State Champion, #4 US Mile (4:06.98), #5 US 3200m (8:48.73)
Blake Haney, Bakersfield, CA, 2-time Dream Miler, US #4 3200m (8:48.58)
Henry Wynne, Westport, CT, 2013 HS indoor national mile champion.
Everybody keeps mentioning Jacob Burcham, but don't look as if he is running in this one.
Seen where Jacob Burcham's season best times were as the following: 400m - 50:71; 800m - 1:54.21; 1600m - 4:23.82; 3200m -8:59.28.
Burcham is not racing, as it conflicts with his high school graduation. That's the main trouble with the adidas Grand Prix this year...it runs a little early. I am surprised Mora can compete considering the Michigan state rules about being invited and competing in an event. This field is loaded.
Where is Gilley? 4:08 at the Brooks Pr to win and New Balance getting second. Also ran a 1:52 and 8:56 this year. He has shown to be very deserving to make it there.
1. Bernie Montoya 3:58.9
2. Ed Cheserek 3:59.1
3. Andres Arroyo 3:59.4
4. Jacob Burcham 4:00.08

where's arroyo? do you know if he's running?
Yes, he is listed next to Bernie Montoya. When I copied and pasted it messed up and put him on the same line.
BOLD PREDICTION: JAMES RANDON RUNS AWAY WITH IT IN 3:59
who are you? Do you go to middlesex? I go to Nobles.
Malone certainly does not have to have this race go at 2:10 to be in it
McGorty just went out at 2:01 high at Penn and Malone was by in probably 2:03.x, gave away a little too much room and closed in 56.5 for his 4:05.59
In two weeks he should be even more fit and could/should be a factor here
Montoya and Arroya are the chalk, with Saarel surely tough enough to be in this as well, and surely Cheserek will never let them go early
If Cheserek could lay off one time here to 2:02 evenly, he could close well as his 1:49.x scratch PR and relay recently would indicate, plus his 8:39 two mile
A great mile lined up , Burcham either did not want to come or at 4:08 this year was not invited? Hard to figure they would not let him in off his 4:02.x last year even though it was last year
I've gotta give it to the 1:47 guy. Hard to imagine him not being able to run a 1:57 off a 2:02 880. Why is Ed Cheserek being listed as a sub 1:50 guy?
