When is your birthday? If you are 34 now, you will be 35 for Boston 2014. Qualifying times go for your age on Boston race day, not the qualifying race day. So you can run a 3:10 qualifier at age 34 if you will be 35 on race day in Boston 2014.
Yeah, I'm actually sitll 33, but on my way to 34. I was just rounding up for that first post. It makes a pretty significant difference when it comes to having a birthday after April in regards to qualifying times.
That being said, I think I'm going to go for it. I'm a teacher, so I've got some time during the summer to get it done(please don't let this decend into another "teachers are lazy" thread).
What exactly do I have to lose?
I got in.
Nice to see it went well.
Way to go!
details?

Congrats! Yes, details please.
Basics:
I slowly increased mileage- adding about a mile to my long run each week leading up to the race (I don't want to give tons of specifics on the race I ran because it will become painfully obvious who I am based on the results). I had some initial issues with my knee again, but I did a ton of strengthening excercises and was able to get it under control by June. Fortunately, the weather cooperated most of the summer and I was able to feel pretty decent on most of long runs. I was actually surprised at how quickly I progressed. I worked my way up to 2- 22 milers. My weekly mileage never got above 70, which is about as much as I put in over 10 years ago when I first qualified. Speed work consisted of a tempo run and intervals ranging from 1000 meters to miles each week (pace varied by workout..duh). I got really sick right before I was supposed to run a half as a dress rehersal and had to dns, but I still felt pretty confident on race day. For the first time in a long while everything clicked that day and I was able to run 3:01 and change. Honestly, I am more than a little disappointed that I didn't get under 3, but it was good enough to get me to Boston in the spring.
Thanks for the support!
