WOW!
WOW!
this kid is gonna break 4. no doubt.
Good for him.
I have 'mixed feeling' about athletes born and raised in the U.S. competing for a country that has had no input into their development.
...actually, the feelings are not mixed...I don't like it.
Good for you, Andres Arroyo!
I hope you break 4, and run for whatever country you like.
Not to mention he ran World XC in between the two quick track races!!!
The thread which talked about his solo 4:04 (in a 4:25 race) is here: http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=5098029
I don't think he will just get under 4 mins but by a land slide..
Damn, 1:47.79? There's no doubt he'll break 4.
Y'all see that race? My god. Kids gonna run 3:58 or faster, no doubt.

He's entered in the 1600m tomorrow. Maybe they'll make it a mile?
Amazing. I think I heard his 600 split was 1:18 which is absolutely ridiculous. Can't wait to see how he will do in a race with real competition, though, unfortunately, he has had little success against elite level competition. A sub-4:00 would be incredible and I would greatly enjoy watching such a performance.
We have finished an article on Arroyo which includes videos of his 4:04 solo 1600 as well as his 1:47 800.

I finally watched the video about an hour ago. His strength and acceleration is incredible. No doubt in my mind he can go sub 4.

He said he's not running the 1600m
He is amazingly quick and fast. In his 4:04 he won by 22 seconds. He is the real deal and does have 3:57ish mile potential this season. I was the track announcer for his 4:04 and, believe me, he has a lot more in the tank with some competition.
That backstretch was absolutely smok'in big time! That kind of acceleration will kill off anybody in HS at this point! Cheserek and Montoya had better be prepared to take on this "Beast" otherwise, he'll eat them alive! It could be, that with the right race, we might see three, maybe four Highschoolers go sub-four this year!
I watched the 800 video 2x. That backstretch was awesome and reminded me of Rudisha in the Olympics. Get to 500 and put the hammer down. Good for him.
Send him back to PR, if isn't willing to compete as a US citizen he obviously does not appreciate what this country has provided him. If he isn't willing to show support for the country that allowed him to reach this potential than send that ungrateful kid back to the country that he apparently feels he should be representing. He should not be stealing the spotlight from kids who truly respect and understand what this country has allowed them to do with their track and field careers.
You do realize that PR is part of the USA, right? Citizens of PR are citizens of the USA.
Why PR has an Olympic team, I don't know. But they do, so he is not being a traitor by representing them.
