Can you show me the shine of your Japan?
The sparkle of your china? Can you show me?
Bodhisattva. Bodhisattva.

In a recent GQ article Fagan just ripped on their fans. He was making fun of them for wanting to hear the old stuff and his latest cover of an old blues track.
The guy sounds like a first class A HOLE.

Every time I go to LA and "drive west on Sunset to the sea" makes me think of Fagen and Becker...Turn that jungle music down, just til we're out of town.
I was just out in LA in July and did exactly that. I got in my car, turned on 'Babylon Sisters' and drove 'west on Sunset to the sea'. I had always wanted to do that.
Somewhat related: I also got on Ventura Blvd and played America's 'Ventura Highway'.
On the hill the stuff was laced with kerosene, but yours was crystal-clean. Everyone stopped to stare at your technicolor motor home.

Ok so I may have been the one who bumped this after several years.
I think the closest they got to a genuine love song was “Pearl of the Quarter” which is about a prostitute in New Orleans, which I’ve always appreciated.
True the lyrics are so cryptic like stipe and r e m

Who's Kid Charlemagne?
It's about Owsley Stanley

Steely Dan was named after a dildo from a passage in William S. Burroughs' Naked Lunch.
Ergo I do not like Steely Dans.
Maybe there is some weird connection between that and the OP's name: "Assassin, Con and Rapist".
Mods, do you want to allow someone with that handle to post here?

It was over 7 years ago. What would you like them to do?
FWIW I'm 34 and huge Steely Dan fan. Spotify notified me that I was "top 1% of Steely Dan listeners" for 2019.
Earlier stuff doesn't hook me as much, but The Royal Scam, Aja and Gaucho are on constant rotation. The Nightfly has probably 100+ album plays for me over last few years. Two Against Nature is good too.
PREP from Australia, is a newer band that has some strong later Steely Dan vibes and yacht rock feel -
Their shows in 74 were awesome stuff, with dual drums by hodder and jeff porcaro, and the constrast between skunk baxter's guitar and denny diaz's jazz chops
