So I run on the Club team at my college which is a relatively big and fast (distance-wise) D1 school. Because of this, I am not fast enough to be on the team and I don't know if I'd want to even if I were fast enough.
However, I am still working hard with mainly Jesus as my only training partner (the other club guys are really awesome, but I'm the only one who really does track stuff. They do half-marathons in the Spring...I run with them during XC more) and I'm improving.
My goal is to run sub-4:05 1500m this year and I think I'll be able to break 4 by the time I graduate (I'm in the middle of my Sophomore year on track to graduate on time). I figured that would be fast enough to walk on most anywhere. I want to go to grad school for Physical Therapy, so I was thinking to try to walk onto the team of wherever I go just to try it out.
My thinking was since I haven't run for any school in college, I would have full eligibility, but my friend said that since I've been to college period, some of my years as a potential athlete is used up, which would make since too. I looked at the NCAA website to see if it could answer my question, but I could not find a straight answer.
So to anyone who knows the collegiate eligibility rules well, what kind of eligibility would I have in grad school if I have already gone to college for four years without being a varsity athlete?
