The fact that he ran 3:36 as a college sophomore and that he ran 3:31 last year kind of says he is someone who can run fast.
He may become a racer and a time trialer like many great runners were before - El G, Morceli, Coe, Scott ...

At this point Rupp is better than Centro at every event 800 - marathon. Deal with it Centro fanboys.
Maybe not as much as you think. He just switched training programs and as others have stated, has not had the uninterrupted years of training that Rupp has had.
He could very well be extremely fit right now but just having a time with consistency which is very usual for someone changing programs and coming back from years of interrupted training.
What I mean is I'm sure they are getting glimpses of brilliance in his trainging, but then he probably has days where he is quite flat whereas Rupp is much more even day in and day out.
Over time Centro should adjust and bring his best or near his best on a regular basis. Actually Centro, Ulrey and Rupp all looked a little flat last weekend so it could be where they are at in a training cycle and they may be ready to pop soon.
I didn't look into his splits, but he looked flat and still ran 3:56 and got the win after a cruddy race the week before. I would look for him to start rounding into form the next race, but more importantly have a really good summer.
Centro's 1500 PR converts to 3:48.8 for a mile.
He has a WC Bronze and an Olympic 4th at 1500m.
He was the highest ranked American at 1500m the last two years.
I think he is pretty good at this event.
I don't think Centro really cares that Rupp has a faster mile. He's gonna run 3:30 in a diamond league this summer and is still adapting to the training regimen. He's a racer. He's a tough guy. He'll be fine
What makes you think Centrowitz is clean? Have you noticed his acne...?
I think he will run much faster than 3:56, but I can't see him doing anything in 2 weeks that's going to make him run equal to his outdoor PR. I say 3:51x at best.
He ran 3:53.92 last February at the armory. So i would say faster than that.
3:51. but he is a great kicker and I'd give him the victory head to head against Rupp at this distance.

The victory is not yours to give.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DONT BE INJURED YET AGAIN??????
WHY IS HE NOT ON THE LISTS FOR THE TWO MILE????? WTF!!!!!!!
The English language is such a difficult thing. Sometimes words are not used literally.
There is absolutely no chance that Centro will get the AR at Millrose. Look at who is in this race - Lomong, Andrews, Gregson. These guys all will be going for the win and have a realistic chance of getting it. No way Centro is going to get the time trial he would need for a record attempt.
Tactical race. Centro for the win. 3:52.xx

I don't know.

He didn't look all that comfortable coming down the stretch where he was barely able to hold off Leer to win by 0.1s.
also, saying "barely holding off Leer" isn't much of a slam at centro especially considering the context. Leer has shown to probably be one of the fastest 1500 closers in the game. he just always times it wrong.
Compare how you will -- although centro looked a little more flat than he did at millrose last year, they were at the bell in 3:00.xx at new balancewhen they were at 2:57 at the bell last year at millrose. so, the kicks are comparable.

I agree after Cento get's a race or two under his belt, but if Rupp were to run at Millrose it is unlikely that Cento would be close enough to get Rupp with a kick.

Love Rupp, but I highly doubt that there is a pace that rupp is capable of in the mile that can shake centro 9 times out of 10 (everyone has a bad day sometimes).
If Centro and Salazar felt like he was indicatin 3:50 shape several weeks ago, it is because he was doing the workouts to show it. Just like Rupp knew he had a real shot at 3:49 high a few weeks ago.
If Rupp took off, Centro would be right on his tail to the end, if not ahead of him.
