I'm in the market for a new pair of spikes for this upcoming season. For XC I ran in a pair of Asics Dirtdog, and on the track I've been running in a pair of Asics Japan Lightning that I got in 2009, though I never had problems until last year. I'm running the 1600m and 3200m, and maybe an occasional 5k, for my highschool team. The major issue I'm having is blisters. Last track season, and this past XC season I have been getting blisters on the balls of my feet. Sometimes mild, and sometimes huge nasty ones that tear off inches of skin. Now, I believe that these blisters are happening because of excessive pressure rather than friction. I've tried replacing the spike, right where the blister forms, with a blank, and that seemed to help a little bit. I think this might be caused by the fact that I have very slightly wide feet, but no one makes spikes in wide sizes. Has anyone else experienced blister problems like this? Any solutions? And any suggestions for new spikes that will help?
