Hey guys, I'm wondering what I'll be able to get in the 800 this year. I have about six months (June)to prepare for my provincial (or state) meet.
So far, I've been running for a year and a half. I have not been injured ever. My form is on point and I have a strong core.
Last year (June), I peaked at about 2:07 for the 800m and 53 high for the 400m. My mileage was somewhere around 30-40k (20 miles)consistently throughout the year.
I was trained by my school coach and saw him on average three times a week, and training was not individualized for me.
This year, I joined a track club and I'm doing speed-based 800m workouts (my strength). I do a lot of quality work on and off the track. I am increasing the intensity of mileage and slowly tapering off on longer runs.
Some workouts I've done are:
8x200m with 4 minute rest. (31,31,30.30.31.30,30,27)
3x1000m with 5 minute rest. (3:10,3:08,3:13)
2-4-6-4-2 ladder with 2 minute rest (34,75,1:45,74,30)
10x400m with 1 minute rest (ranging 75-83 and 63 last one)
My mileage has increased to roughly 45-50k per week. A harder mileage run would look like 8k with 4:10 per km.
PBs:
200m - 25 low
400m - 53 high
800m - 2:07 low
1500m - 4:23
3000m - 9:46
TL;DR: Look at PBs, I have a renowned coach and run 45k per week total. What would a realistic goal look like in the 800m? (Also include 400m if you have an idea, that would be great)
