I'm a highly recruited female cross country runner but I don't want to be burnt out at the end of my NCAA career. Does anyone know what top Div 1 schools have coaches who are known for focussing on the long term for their athletes?
If you rely on this forum for advice, you are in trouble. If this isn't another troll post to generate negative posts about some college coach, then you are looking in the wrong place to find the information you want.
Posters on here either have a grudge, base their judgment on what a team happens to do in the last year or two or are only guessing. If you want to know about a specific program, you need to speak to the coach and the athletes at each school you look at.
How you develop in college will be determined by you and your relationship with the coach and the team. If you haven't taken your five paid visits yet, you need to do that. You need to ask a lot of questions, not only about the team, but also the academics, since you are going to college to get an education.
You and your parents need have your eyes open and see things how they really are and not how you wish them to be. Every school will tell you they are the best academic school and that you will have a very good running career if you come. Remember, they are looking to make their program better and want the best athletes they can attract. No one will bring up issues that might discourage you.
Making such a major decision as to where to go to college is difficult, but with proper research, and patience you will find the best place to spend the next four years.
