Hey, so I am a senior in high school and just came off of a pretty good cross country season (15:22 5k) and have done pretty well up to this point without lifting at all. I have heard from different people though that weight lifting really helps your quarter speed and also with injury prevention. Being a guy that has only broken 60 in the 400 once, I think it might be a good idea for me to start weight lifting for track. Also though, I've heard that it could put on unnecessary body weight, which would be detrimental especially for a 3200 guy.
So would it be beneficial for me to start lifting? I already double three days a week with running (Monday Wednesday Friday) and was thinking of just adding Tuesday and Thursday as lifting days before school. It's senior year so I could probably make this work sense I have almost no homework and can probably still get good sleep even if I'm waking up early every day of the week.
If this helps at all I'm about 6' 2'' and weigh about 150.
