While I don't elong to a CF gym, my exercise regimen is very similar.arto what they do. CF needs to eliminate the sprint logo from their workouts. True sprinting provides very specific benefits, and they aren't realized when the athlete is so tired that he is jogging at 10 minutes a mile pace.
My sprint workouts are just that, sprint workouts. Nothing else mixed in. And when done properly, you don't really want to do much after. CF should call the running portion of their workouts running, but that wouldn't sound badass enough, so it will remain sprinting regardless how slow people are moving.
That is a great point. Sprinting is a sport that is very hard and technical. When x-fitters to claim they can 'sprint' after doing 300 squats, they are disrespecting the athletes who are actually training for sprinting.

I'm pretty much the first to criticize Crossfit, but I'll defend it here. Kipping pullups are not to gain strength. Rather they are used in metcons (read: cardio) to (1) get a lower time for competitive Crossfitters, and (2) to involve more of the body's musculature, thus putting more stress on the body's energy systems, and (3) to generate more power, thus helping to build power endurance.
If they're not going to do actual pull-ups, then don't call them pull-ups. Call them kips, that way we'll understand from the beginning that it's a less difficult exercise. The guy in the video never even got his chin above the bar. He was just swinging like a monkey.

Well, but they do look a lot more buff than long distance runners, truth be told.
