My sister had severe acne her entire high school career and still has it (she is 26). I thought I dodged the bullet but got acne for the first time at the end of my senior year of college. I broke out horribly and it took almost a year to get it under control.
I'm a guy and my psoriasis started at 17 and lasted until 26. I've never been really that uptight about it, just saw it as some people just have perfect skin and some don't. What was weird was that no one in my immediate family or cousins and uncles had even a hint of acne. Hair loss was the same way. Sometimes I think I'm like Danny Devito in that movie twins.

Tell her to go on a gluten-free diet, get her sleep, stay away from caffeine, dairy and red meat. In other words, go on a total anti-inflammatory diet.
Also, sleep is very important along the theme of stress management.
Supplements: (1) Omega 3-6-7-9s (2) Alpha Lipoic Acid (3) Vitamins A,C,D,E (4) selenium (5) ginger root.
Facial cleanser, facial toner and some kind of DMAE and/or sea buckthorn moisturizer.
I know this is a bit of an expensive approach but its not too unreasonable AND it works. I 100% gaurantee it!
I had brutal acne from the time I was 12 years old until I was 30 and this is the best advice. Eventually you will shrivel up and grow old and by the time I was 40 that was no longer a concern but for people in their 20's and 30's its a huge and I recall those days. Back then in high school your parents were so embarrassed they sent you to the local dermatologist that gave you a prescription for some pills and Retin-A which peeled a layer of your skin off.
I had a sun-lamp as a teenager just for that and still was spending money for the Pro-Active tv stuff that was 30 bucks a month when I was 32.
I guess by age 33 I forgot it was ever a problem but this thread brings me back when it really was a daily concern and psychological burden.
Yep, I sometimes get some pimples when I am tapering. If they last longer than a few days it is also a good predictor of a cold coming.
I am 33 now and had acne since I was 16, not helped by some superficial burns I got when I was 14 as a consequence of a drunk friend and a firework.
My skin has been more or less totally clear for two years since I upped my mileage, cut down on booze and ditched the oral antibiotics. I use prescribed Tretinoin gel to stop any major zits appearing. It is strong stuff, and I would only use it two days out of a week.
