I am one of the top 60+ guys in the country. My last half marathon was 1:25:xx. 6:50 pace at 6000 feet would be flat out 5k pace for me. No way they were running that in Afghanistan, let alone running it and "interviewing".

Petraeus and some of his officers were comforted by little Afghan boys. The Taliban is going to blame US troops for this.
They may have occasionally run that pace, but the interviewing was probably done in bed.

That's already been established. Try to keep up.

Now, that was funny!

Two hours taping interviews at 6 minute pace at 6000 FEET?
All I can say is WOW. That is some "babe". I do not admire his integrity, but I certainly do admire his taste in women. I can't imagine any guy (I say guy, not gay) on LRC not falling to THIS:
What's the problem with his integrity? He has an affair with a beautiful, younger woman. The man is human afterall. His marriage was probably nothing more than a marriage of convenience at this point -lifeless and dull. After 40yrs in the military and the lead general of the army, I'm sure he knew the responsibilities of being a spy.
Here's what she actually said. Not they ran 6 minute pace but that they finished at that pace.

I'm more than a little skeptical. Also, you have to be a dick to turn a run into a race.

As the last guy kind of alluded to, my guess is that did a progression run, with a very hard final mile or two. Who knows what the pace of that final mile or two was, but since they were racing at the end, they probably approached sprint finish.
One could have easily been wearing a Garmin, and pulled a "6:00 pace" from the final part of the run. Probably not even a full mile. Let's say it was just the last 1/4 mile... or 100m or whatever it takes to register on a Garmin. For two alpha, competitive military types, that very easily turns into a "on our interview, we ran 6 minute pace" brag.
Her half marathon time from over 3 years ago is slower 7:00 pace, without altitude, so your conclusion is right-on.
he's a 70's guy and has had male sex partners and female sex partners his whole life. i don't see why that should be a problem. there ought to be a way for top gov't officials to register sexual activities with the cia and fbi so that this does not occur again. having sex is a natural human need and petraeus is human.
I upped my training over the weekend now that she's available.
He was able to run 10 miles and average 6:20 per mile. That is a 54.3 VDOT. He should have been able to run a 5K in just under 6 minutes per mile, or a 10K at 6:12 per mile.

She did a 1/2 marathon in 1:36:26, so that is a 47 VDOT - which means she can average 6:45 for a 5K or 7 minutes for a 10K.

So what I learned is - he was faster when he was 10 years older than her. But both can sustain under 7 minutes per mile for several miles.
apparently Petraeus only has one working lung according to this happy piece of hate, so his running pace is even more impressive.

Ha! Never saw this post. I actually was at West Point with Paula Kranz (her maiden name) and had one class with her. It was a physical education class. Can't remember the name of it now. I think I was a Cow so she would have been a Firstie. While I doubt the "6:00 mile interview" pace I can say that she was a BEAST of an aerobic athlete. One of our graded runs was a run from the Hudson River to Stony Lonesome housing area at the very top of the highest hills on the Point. I'm pretty sure she beat me and I was in pretty damn good shape. I always wondered why she didn't run for the CC or Track teams. I'm guessing too busy because she had a high position in the Corps, maybe on Brigade Staff or something. All I remember is she had a lot of rank of her sleeve. And she was as good looking as she was fast :)
Female coach having affair with male runner. Should I report it?
If Daniel's and Pfitz are outdated..then where do I look for modern training plans?
