That running is a path to anywhere.
It can help you get fit.
It can help you learn through team spirit.
You should absolutely not count on it for a scholarship or a profession.
1. Getting a scholarship is based on the dual strokes of luck of having a good coach, and having enough talent and drive. The odds of getting all three in high school are slim. Winning the genetic talent lottery might be enough to overcome mediocre coaching...but unlikely.
2. You have a better change of training to make it as a punter in the NFL than you do of ever becoming a professional runner.
