Times in CC are meaningful, whether 5k, 3 miles, (or 39m short of 3miles) when they are compared from year to year on the same course. Cross Country courses are all of differing difficulty as well, that is the point, it's not the distance as much as it is the time comparisons on that particular course. We need to get away from looking it from the exact distances that exists in track and field and then we can all enjoy it more :)

If I am ever elected president, there will never be another 1600, 3200, or "unknown distance" XC race run in US high schools that receive tax $$.
XC courses will be certified by NIST ( The National Institute of Standards and Tecnhology) as accurate to with in 1m or they will be roped off by DHS goons.
This time is very nice but ultimately meaningless. Tell me what she does on the track in the spring.
