I'm a firm believer that there are different ways to run a fast 1500-10k.
My Jr year, I was running 100 mile weeks in the summer, 17 mile long runs, tempo runs etc and ran 25:52 (8k XC). Sr year, I was lazy, ran 60-65 mile weeks in the summer with my longest run being 13 miles and no real tempo work. Ran a 25:59.
Also continued to run a 31:48 10k off of 65 mile weeks.
On the other hand, summer before my Jr year, I ran a 1:14:21 Half marathon (which would have been around a 1:12, but fell apart the last 3200). Don't think I could have done that off of 64 mile weeks without long runs....
To counter that though, I'm going after that 1:12 HM in 5 weeks off of 75 mile weeks, but I'm structuring my runs around it: doing more LT workouts and working on hard-long runs.
