Well, nice performance for Ritz, but it makes me a little sad--because it (and the money that's available at the marathon distance) may prompt him to continue chasing the marathon, where I just don't think he has the talent to be *truly* world class.
I could see him as potentially an international-championship medalist at shorter distances. Now, I imagine he's likely to be a marathoner "forever." Sad to see it.
Still, terrific performance and PR for Ritz, after all his previous frustration!
Those of you complaining about the coverage are either idiotic to the nature of media coverage or are spoiled brats. These folks in Chicago are covering for "mainstream" American masses, not us obsessive-cant-give-it-up type of runners. It is also sponsored by Bank of America; maybe there are contractual obligations to cover a particular way.

Ritz is 29. His days on the track were numbered anyway.
Eggleston 2:12:03, second American; Carlos Trujillo 2:14:21, third American. This was Trujillo's debut, right?
Kebede > Mutai
I thought it was great coverage.

Rizzo beats Grabow!
Grabow 2:19:03
With all due respect to Ritz and his 2:07 time, kudos to him, but when you have East Africans debuting at 2:05, what chances are Americans going to have on winning major marathons?
Voice worse than Suzyn Waldman
Holy shti the women's finish!!
Literally photo finish for women. Baysah, Jeptu (sound).
i to thought the coverage was pretty good
The top two ladies both recorded chip times of 2:22:04

Winning? Almost none. Podium finishes on occasion is my hope.
Now that Ritz has finally "figured out" the marathon and gotten his long-awaited breakthrough, any chance Tadesse will pop a 2:02 any time soon?
If Hansons can take a guy like Drew Polley and make him a 2:15 consistent marathoner and Dot McMahan into a 2:30 low marathoner - what could they do with really high level college talent?
craig leon nice job mate.
in other news the weatherwoman needs to shut up and just stand there.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
