After a member of our team's coaching staff found my previous thread on which I was able to bond with numerous women across the country living a lifestyle similar to mine, I was dismissed from my Cross Country team and ostracized by its members. What followed was a short period of academic achievement, including passing a mixology class, which ultimately landed me a bartending job that I was fired from after providing free drinks to my former teammates in an effort to win back their affection. For a short time I considered moving out into the woods, drinking myself into oblivion every night while training my tits off during the day, and dying my hair a lighter brown.
Were it not for my parents I almost certainly would have been able to pursue this reclusive lifestyle and spend 15 hours a day examining other people's directathletics profiles on my iPad. Their domineering nature forced me to take my hard training ways to another university. I have substituted jello shots and sweaty party behind-the-back Handjibbers for the occasional craft beer with my current boyfriend, a 230 pound ex-high school fullback who had a financial internship in New York last summer and, like me, absolutely despises the men's cross country team and all that they stand for, like flaunting their thighs and being slightly louder than other tables in the dining hall. He has told me that I am not a pleasant person to watch football with and together we are working through this.
I would like to extend my thanks to the Letsrun community and offer support to other young women here searching for a way to break free from the offensive email chains and facial expressions of their male counterparts. If anyone would like to start an independent film suggestion list, or a discussion of the latest Gawker media post, that would be welcome. I am also searching for an unpaid marketing internship in the Northeast. Thank you.
