What other people have done isn't particularly interesting to me. I never ran 2.25. I've had about 15 years of running.
I run 5-6 sub-2:25s per year. It's really not a big deal.
I sacrificed everything. My house, my job, my wife, my kids, even my goddamn dog. And for what?? A few shiny pieces of metal?? Don't do it kid. It's not worth it.
8 years. 110-130 mileage in doubles. sacrifice being what people call a "normal" weight/physique, a few nights a week of drinking, and sleeping in a couple times. you get used to it and its not a big deal after a while
You have to admit the the medals and t-shirts are great at getting attention at the office! People always are in awe when I wear my latest finisher's medal in the breakroom!
