Think the north side is more Italian, while the southies skew Irish. I could be wrong.
I'd say the nickname of their basketball team indicates a stronger Irish influence.

Don't forget the Irish Riviera-Cape Cod.
Boston has a higher percentage of people of Irish descent of any city in the country, in fact the highest percentage in the world of any city not in Ireland.
Depending on where you draw the boundaries and how you define "Irish", Boston is 15-35% Irish.
There are pockets in Boston and Greater Boston that are heavily Italian (the North End, Everett, and Revere, for example) but overall Boston is much more Irish than Italian.
And Cape Cod is NOT the Irish Riviera. The "Irish Riviera" typically refers to the coast south of Boston (The South Shore) including towns like Scituate, Cohasset, and Marshfield. The Cape has never been notably Irish.
