Here is a week from my summer training log. I was a nordic ski racer, but did a lot of running in the summer. At the time I was 5' 7" and 210lbs. So even though I was lean, ( less than 10% body fat), I was pretty heavy.
Monday: 30 KM roller ski AM, PM 15 mile hill fartlek
Tuesday: 50 Mile bike ride, PM 10 mile run easy
Wednesday: 10 mile run easy, PM track ladder pace work 4 X ( 400, 800, 1600, 800, 400) 10K pace going up, faster than 10K pace going down. Rest 1:00 per 400 ran
Thursday: 50 KM roller ski AM, 50 mile bike PM
Friday: AM 50 mile bike, PM 10 mile easy
Saturday: 50 KM roller ski, 50 Mile bike
Sunday: 20 mile run
For all that running my times were pretty slow, (5 Mile 27:27, 10K 33:12, Half marathon 1:15:23) I tried a marathon but broke my foot during it, and never tried again. But put me on a pair of skinny skis where I could use my strength and I was competitive. (Not national team caliber but a consistent top 20-30 finisher in major competitions).
I also had to retire due to severe osteoarthritis at 21, so this type of schedule did not work out in the long run.
