LOL, watching some replays of the Olympic 100m, I can't help but laugh when Bolt leaves Gatlin in the dust at around 60m.
Gatlin, meet Bolt.
Even a healthy Gay will destroy Gatlin if Gatlin continues to run like that in the second half of the race.
That seemed like the first time that Gatlin had seen anything like that. Talk about a wake-up call! It's not 2004 anymore.
Will Gatlin be satisfied with bronze territory? An Olympic medal is a fantastic achievement, but next year he will have Bolt, Blake, AND Gay to worry about. Gatlin could definitely make some money running the circuit, but he would become a whipping-boy to the new Big 3.
If he can manage to improve his top-end while keeping his excellent first-half, he will be 9.6x. I don't think that he will be able to do it, it seems too late in the game.
He's got to be sitting around thinking seriously about what he can do to respond to the new era.
