Amy and Desi are best buds so I am pretty sure that Desi has shared all of these type of concerns. Amy knows what she is getting in to.
The real question is "Do the Hansons know what they are getting?"

She held it together through the Olympics and that's all she could do. Don't read more into it with message board trolls.
So her decision to leave had absolutely nothing to do with her romantic involvement with a guy who was, up until very recently, dating one of her MTC training partners? Sure.
From what I understand it has more to do with the way that Mahon conducts himself and the Cragg, Uceny , Hastings thing was just the final straw which forced them into taking decisions. Go back to Ryan Hall and you may find a common theme.
He is great coach from technical point of view and has a good system in place but he is not very good at getting the best out of his athletes mentally.
The challenge for these athletes is that the good coaches are all tied up with shoe companies so changing coaches is extremely difficult as it also involves getting new contracts.
I am sure each of them will make the decision that works for them even if it affects their careers it may still be the best decision for them personally.

You think a change of sponsor will be needed to get a good coach? Nike?
Nike does not have any MARATHON coaches in the US. They have very good 1500-5k-10k coaches, but not in the MARATHON.
Why won't Jerry take her? Wouldn't play well with Shalane/Kara?
Hansons are Brooks and AH is already Brooks. Jerry wouldn't touch her. I think she has done well. I always thought her teammate at AZ ( really thin and I believe beat Amy) would br the marathoner. Sucks, she has lost a lot over a guy.
If these coaches are looking for both athletic talent and monk behavior, they will always be coaching average athletes. The very best athletes have over-the-top personalities.
People have their own priorities wouldn't you know. Kara and Adam want to move to San Diego but are stuck in Portland with a negative. Shalane and Steve remain in Portland to establish Steve's career and want to move on as soon as he has a good and steady stable.
What?
Jerry is the best fit. Won't happen with the brooks and nike thing. Hanson's is a terrible fit but brooks influenced. Mammoth isn't an option anymore.

Schumacher is affiliated with Nike. A shame really because he would be the ideal coach for Hastings plus she would have great people to train with unlike Mammoth. Plus the other recent MTC departee is now based in Portland
Maybe AH could sign with Nike. I'm sure they would love to have her. I assume that would depend on how long is left on her contract. Even if it's next yr she could wait it out and then join Jerry.
Coaches need to work on athlete retention. US performances in major championships have suffered because of our coaches' failure at this aspect of coaching. Knowledge of running means nothing if you can't retain your athletes to coach them. Coaches and their egos, favoritism, and unrealistic intrusions upon athletes' personal lives have chased off too many good athletes, e.g. Webb and Hall. Coaches, if you can't get along with your athletes, and they keep leaving you, you are a failure as a coach. A coach is a friend, mentor, guide, and teacher, not a dictator! Coaches consider this:
If we ranked all of the US distance coaches according to athlete retention, where would you place?
... nor are we a door mat although we often get treated as such by some athletes. Some of the crap I am expected to put up with is sick, especially considering what we get paid (if we get paid).
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
