1. Somebody pushed Aregawi from behind
2. Aregawi stumbled forward towards Uceny
3. Uceny's foot, coming back hit Aregawi's thigh
4. Uceny down, out
5. Aregawi almost down but finish 5
Both Ethiopia and USA could protest

Or the 1996 Olympic men's 1500m when El G fell. Let's re-run that!
2009 world champs women's 1500m had a crazy-bad foul on the last lap. It cost Ethiopia's Burka a medal (and between the fall and the DQ of the Spaniard gave Rowbury a bronze). They didn't re-run that race and I never heard Rojo or anyone else suggest they should. Why now Rojo?

El Guerrouj was at fault, running to close to Morceli and clipped his legs. Protest himself?
They should keep re-running the race until Uceny wins. The USA women's soccer team will lose the gold medal when the other countries appeal Hope Solo's failed drug test.
"Normally, such an athlete should have
completed the event with bona fide effort."
Well, Uceney gave no effort to complete the event.

From the IAAF rule book
She didn't complete the event. Was she hurt or could she have got up and and finished (obviously she would not have done well)?

It's pretty damning evidence that it's entirely Uceny's fault. She kicks the Ethiopian runner, who is off to the left and behind, with her left foot. Uceny's left foot bounces of the Ethiopian's thigh, and into Uceny's own right calf, causing her to fall, and Uceny almost takes out the Kenyan and the Ethiopian runner.
Nobody clipped Uceny's heel or any of that nonsense. She literally kicked herself in the calf and fell down.
I motion that we start by rename this site to letsre-run.com
All track races, past, present and future, have the option to be re-run
Don't like the result, let's re-run!
With her 800m speed, Morgan Uceny is a runner to key off in a 1500m race. Off such a slow first 800m, the top four could have just broken clean and hammered the last 800m. That's what I was thinking watching it. But they didn't. Any one of the top four could been brought down from behind by a drafter expecting their leader to surge with the rest of the field, not surging, and having the drafter run up their legs.
She didn't stand a chance of a medal even if she'd stayed on her two left feet so what would be the point?

Why don't you analyze the whole sequence? Kosteskaya-Aregawi-Uceny. This deserves close analysis. I think it is outrageous to say Uceny kicked herself.
Never mind we still have the Women's 800m to look forward to.....
Nice find. Uceny only has herself to blame. Damn shame because she was in perfect position too.

Kostetskya was in front of Uceny the entire sequence. Watch the video, then come back and support your argument.
They should re-run it without the 2 dopers
As far as I could see she hit the girl ahead and she fell so its her own fault:
Winner must be congratulated for the slowest winning time ever by a huge margin (previous slowest was 4:05.48 in 1976). Previous slowest medalist was 4:06.09. The psychology of the velodrome has overtaken the women's 1500. Or perhaps this is a triumph of rigorous drug testing.

That's an option at USAs.
You'd just be trading one juiced up final for another juiced up final. There's probably enough dope in these ladies to put an blue whale to sleep.

No damning evidence at all, she did not move inside to cause the clip. Its nobody's fault. Its just a consequence of running in close quarters - the Ethiopian did not move to cause the fall nor did Uceny move into the inside lane to cause it. Its just very bad luck - not bad tactics (because where else should she have been that was not taken already - leading was the worst statistical option). She was in good position to move around the turn and was not boxed and had a clear line to the top three.
You can debate if she had the 58.0 last quarter in her to win gold or the 58.7ish to win a medal(she has closed in near that before) but we will never know.
