Absolutely unbelievable. Dude's on a whole different level.

props to all the finishers, I knew most of the runners would try and hang with Rudisha and maybe pay at the end....except Nick.....but I was wrong about hanging around at the finish....they should ALL be proud!
Kaki tried to go with Rudisha for as long as possible, he paid for it fading to 7th. Symmonds ran even but in that fast a race the guys in front didn't slow down.
I'm sure if someone told him or Duane that they would run 1:42 in the olympic final they would take it in a heartbeat. Just unfortunate for them that everyone else was also on.
So fastest 800m and 100m ever in the same Olympics? Still coming down off the high of that race. Incredible, and I can't wait to see the replay tonight on my actual TV, but it was still amazing to watch on my computer.
I was screamin' at the live stream "FASTER DAAAVIIIIIIIIIIID FAAASTEEEEER!!!!" and "FAASTEER NIEIEIIIIECCCCKKKYYYYYYYYY FAAASTTTTTEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!"
When you look at it, Rudisha was pretty much a rabbit...who just so happened to stay in the race and win.
Great runs by pretty much the entire field. That was an awesome race to watch. I was really hoping Solomon would real in 3rd. Then, Symmonds comes up and almost takes 4th away from Solomon. Great day for American 800 runners even if they didn't medal.
best time for place before the final (unless i made mistakes):
1. 1:41.01
2. 1:42.23
3. 1:42.69
4. 1:42.85
5. 1:43.09
6. 1:43.30
7. 1:43.89
8. 1:44.20
David M-F Rudisha
Not just the best 800m guy ever, but one of the historic greats in T&F, IMHO, right up there with other impossibilities like Komen.

record for every single place

komen got the pace
there have been 3 guys who couda run that with evenish 4'53 pacing to 2k
what?....they ALL paid for it....with Rudisha....by running the greatest times of their LIVES!
On to the drug tent..... but London Olympic brass don't want no bad publicity so what are you gonna do....

If so, thats sad. We don't need faster tracks, we need equal tracks.
no
iaaf have restricted energy return to <65% for over 20++y
tracks are not allowed to be faster by law
they may have less "hardness" in order to accommodate distance runners ( atlanta was probably illegaly quick & also rock hard & prevented geb from running the 5k after his 10k )
what has happened is that energy return ( "speed" ) is unchanged, but technology has allowed them to be more "forgiving/softer" than rock-hard atlanta, meaning friendly for distance runners as well as sprinters
they shoudn't be quicker for 800m & up events for last 20++y
I love to see a fast mid-d/distance race at the Olympics/WCs instead of a tactical slow race. Thanks Rudisha!
To me, Rudisha is no different than is Bolt.
NOT AT ALL.
Even if he is using something, which is almost certainly is, it probably isn't banned yet, and if it is, he is only dosing to a "reasonable" level such that it clears his system by the time he is tested. He is not even as dramatic as is Bolt, when you consider the relative times he is running. Also, like the 100, you can bet that all the other guys are doing the same thing as Rudisha.
In short, I have no problem with whatever Rudisha is doing, until such time as he tests positive. Same with Bolt.
That scumbag Makhloufi is totally different, however.
What a doper.

Well that's kind of the point of doping, right? We don't know which one he has that westerners don't. Everybody didn't have "the clear"...

HARD TO SAY, THE JAMAICANS KEEP THEIR MOUTHS SHUT AND THE AFRICANS JUST INJEST WHATEVER THEIR COACHES TELL THEM TO.... HOW'S GABBIE ROSA DOIN?
Rudisha better hurry up and break 1:40 or Amos might beat him to the punch.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
