It's clear that Saidipede tries to discredit every non doping white athlete. Earlier in this thread he was belittling Sir Roger Bannister, and here he dismisses the legendary Elliott.
According to Saidipede, Elliott - who retired at age 22 a year after breaking the WR in the Olympic final and unbeaten since a teenager - would never have ran faster, if the financial realities of the time (amateur era) hadn't made it impossible for a southern hemisphere runner to devote his entire twenties to the sport. This is the same Saidipede who finds nothing suspicious in a 24 year old Aouita suddenly turning from a 1:50/3:45/14:00 into a world beater at every distance, including the steeplechase, almost overnight.
El G dominated for 10 years because he never got injured despite the intense workouts that his 'supplements' enabled him to perform. A bit like another certain North African. Even if you want to believe El G himself was clean, he benefited from training partners and even pacemakers who were on EPO (and were subsequently caught). This is undeniable.
Roger Bannister retired at age 24 because he had already immortalized himself by breaking the most famous barrier in sport, and now wanted to devote his life to helping others through the advancement of neuroscience (which he did, immensely).
Herb Elliot retired at age 22 because he had won Olympic Gold and broken the WR multiple times, as well as going undefeated for 3 years. In the age of real amateurism, he now needed to provide for himself and his family and pursue a professional career.
El G retired at age 29 after finally winning Olymipic Gold and because EPO tests were going to be introduced the following year. He wanted to retire to his palatial mansions with his 'reputation' intact.
Said Aouita was a B level runner on the European circuit at age 22, the same age Elliott retired, running slower times on much faster tracks as a full time athlete. On enlisting Italian doctors, as well as a Belgian doctor later busted for supplying peds to dozens of athletes, he turned into a world beating superman. After retiring, he was chased out of Australia - the land of Herb Elliott - because he was telling the young middle-distance runners there that they had to take hgh to win.
According to Saidipede, there is no moral difference between the above four runners.
