Lol. I'd love to hear you talk your way out of this statement.
So dumb.

I'm at the car repair shop and I started laughing because of the above post. I love some of the stuff posted on here. I can't believe Mottram's PRs are faster than Rupp's, but it's no debate whose career is better.
I think that outside of the US it actually IS debatable over whose career was better. Mottram didn't have the same accusations throughout his career, and so he was someone who was admired.
Rupp (from a European perspective) was someone who seemed to drop out of races or not appear depending on whether his allergies (or drug control) were playing up.
We then have the evidence of Salazar hollowing out a book to put medication there, and getting someone to smuggle this into foreign countries for him.
In a big Nike sponsored meet, Rupp might run quick times, but with the controversy that has followed him throughout his career, if you offered me Mottram's career or Rupp's there is no choice I would pick Mottram.
Rupp ran 8:07 indoors, but also ran 7:30 indoors and won that race. No way Mottram would have run 3:50/7:30 indoors. Rupp has 2 Olympic bronze medals, in 2 different events. Also Mottram peaked way before Rupp did agewise. Didn't make the Olympic final at 28 in Beijing, while Rupp ran his 26:44 at 28 and was ranked 3rd in the world in the 5k that year (also ran a 1500 PR that year). Rupp was 5th in the 5k and 10k at 29 in 2015, and then 5th in the 10k and 3rd in the marathon at 30 in Rio. If you're gonna talk in Mottram's favour here, don't bring up peaking haha.
Event - Mottram / Rupp
1500m - 3.33.97 / 3:34.15
3000m - 7:32.19 / 7:30.16
5000m - 12:55.76 / 12:58.90
10000m - 27:34.48 / 26:44.36
Half M - ??? / 1:00:30
Marathon - 2:28:39 / 2:09:58
Medals - 1 WC Bronze / 1 OG Silver, 1 OG Bronze, 1 WMM Silver
Times were pretty close for 1500m-5000m. Combine those three events and Rupp is only slower by about a second. He really starts to pull away at 10k and up though. Mottram only won 1 world bronze while Rupp won an olympic silver and bronze, and a silver at a world marathon major. I don't think there is any room for debate.

Would someone just invoke track bot?
Mottram's 12:55 is no joke. I miss seeing him tower head shoulders above the tiny little Kenyans. Great form for a big man. Too bad we couldn't see prime Mazungo (that's a racial slur right?) versus Rupp.

Do you disagree that there are currently more medals awarded than EVER in history? If not, their value is at the lowest it's ever been.

The least I can do is provide some entertainment for my boys (and girls).

Has Rupp ever scalped a GOAT?
Mottram has.
I think this is closer than people care to admit.

He beat the returning 2x Olympic 10k champ in the Olympic 10k in 2012!!!
Rupp over Mottram. Rupp is superior.
Mottram might seem better on paper, but Rupp's career is much better. You guys have to consider that he's had/is going to have a long career of steady Nike money coming his way. Mottram was great, but he's not making nearly the amount of money Rupp did. I would take Rupp's career without hesitation.
Mottram is by far the more marketable personality, it's unfortunate that he's not quite where he used to be anymore.
mottram had unlimited hct with micera ,
the best endurance ped going to date.
obviously rupp had other peds but has to duck and dive
with nike epo or sauce within passport
has speed peptide and the best dope at any time due to
satanist at nike who run athletics now.

You left out the Mile and 2 Miles
Mottram ran 3:48 for the mile and his 2 Mile pb is the equivalent of 7:27 which is quicker than Rupp.
What WMM silver? Boston? Are you joking?
Again Rupp's 2 Olympic games medals are superior.

The 2006 Commonwealth games 5000m final was stunning only the 2003 5000m in Paris was better, simply electric.
Mottram was a better triathlete, whereas Rupp was a better soccer player.
Mottram was also way more of a man than Galen could ever hope to be. Mottram finished in the top 10 in the short course World Cross Country multiple times, which Galen could never do. Mottram ran sub 13 in a championship race. Galen managed one sub 13 race in his entire career despite many attempts. Galen also has been afraid to lead AND doped to the gills. Plus Galen is a wimp who had to cheat.

This statement has been made several times in this thread, why do people think this is valid? He's gotten top 10 in every major championship race, including two top 3's, and several more top 5's, against the world's best. Not only could he place top 10, it would be a huge probability.
Common sense much?? wrote:

Galen could not do it. Cross country is too much for the doped dainty elf.
