For like the tenth GD time, where is this video that everyone is watching?
I imagine people are reviewing it on their dvrs
This might be old news, but Anderson is no longer on the start list for Sunday.
Earlier today, the semi results were showing a DQ but she was still on the start list for the final. Perhaps this mean any appeal was formally denied.
Can anyone shed light on the official rules regarding post-race DQ like this? What I mean is, there wasn't a flag on the track and I don't understand how there can be a DQ so long after the race.
I thought Mortimer cut in too hard on that curve (which wasn't flagged by any officials) and Gabe protecting her space wasn't called either. This all seems unprecedented to me.
There was a flag.
I vaguely remembered the commentator mentioning... "looks like there is some shoving going on" when I saw it on tv. It was obvious but nothing came of it. Thought maybe it was normal and allowed. Now, I see this thread and I have learned something new? Never a dull moment, eh?
When will the result of the appeal be known?
Here is a video(courtesy of twitter) of the offending movements for anyone interested:
There were no flags in the second heat. There was a yellow flag in the first heat and nothing happened
I couldn't see it at first but now I think its fairly obvious why Anderson was DQ'd.Some serious elbow olympics going on there! Shame the camera was at that angle so its not totally visible
If Nike has anything to do with it the race video will never be shown anywhere. Unless you have it on DVR the race footage will be deleted by "accident"
Thanks Nike!!!!!!
In the video athletes have access to you can see the lane lines and clearly see Mortimer move in and cut Gabriele off causing her to put her arms up to protect her space. I have the video on my computer so there is no chance it gets deleted. You had to sign a contract with USATF saying you won't release the video so I can't post it.
LIKE LANCE!?!? SOOO SHES A DRUG CHEAT???
You're incorrect Mr. McCheesefart. There was no flag in Gabe's heat. The officials did not see anything wrong on the track.
How did that come into play?
Your a fool. USATF = NIKE

You turned out to be correct, but you might, in the future, not want to mention that you heard it in a bar. While I have no doubt "serious" journalists learn stuff in bars all the time, I doubt you will ever hear Brian Williams say it.

When your source is "I heard this in a bar" you might want to wait to post until you have some actual proof. The start list hasn't changed and most likely you are wrong and starting controversy over some drunken rumor your heard from someone trying to pretend they are more important than they really are.
I guess I should have been clear.
I received emails from people close to Anderson about the DQ. The official results had changed. So there was no doubt the DQ was official.
At the bar, I heard the reasons about the DQ. USATF had not put out anything official so that is what I reported. Everything I reported last night I believe has been proven to be accurate.
Gabriele Anderson, the cancer survivor, who finished second in heat 2 of the women's 1500m semifinal has been DQd.
I heard this second hand at a bar but supposedly there was some contact with a lap to go. Anderson was bumped into Amy Mortimer and a protest was filed resulting in the Anderson DQ.
Anderson will be appealing the DQ in the morning.
As a result of the DQ, Alice Schmidt (not Amy Mortimer) who did not originally make the final has been added to the final as that moved Schmidt up to the 5th automatic qualifying spot.
The final is not until Sunday.
