these are the guys who said some team from Washington was the best-ever a few years ago.
don't take any of it seriously.
According to 2011 Mt. SAC bests, the power merge of the top six teams I think coming back would look something like this:
1 Sarah Baxter Simi Valley 11 16:44
2 Emma Abrahamson La Costa Canyon 11 17:58
3 Melissa Eisele San Clemente 11 18:00
4 Sarah Riggs Simi Valley 10 18:05
5 Rachel Vinas Simi Valley 12 18:08

8 Katie Huntington Saugus 12 18:14
9 Amanda Kewley Great Oak 12 18:14
10 Heidi Hoslet Saugus 12 18:15
11 Kelsey Carroll San Clemente 10 18:15

26 Julie Stiegerwald La Costa Canyon 11 19:35

30 Olivia Rosellini Simi Valley 10 20:31
31 Isabella Dalton Dana Hills 12 20:37
32 Summer Wallen San Clemente 12 20:40
D1 and D2 will once again be VERY close -
Simi Valley 58
Great Oak 69
La Costa Canyon 80
Saugus 82
San Clemente 89
Dana Hills 89
Here's 2012 projection based off marks run at CA State last year. Probably more legit because the end of the season is what counts and some teams peak better than others:
1 Sarah Baxter Simi Valley 11 17:08
2 Kelly Lawson La Costa Canyon 12 17:46
3 Emma Abrahamson La Costa Canyon 17:58
4 Melissa Eisele San Clemente 11 18:20
5 Abigail Frankian Saugus 11 18:32
6 Rebekah Bosler La Costa Canyon 11 18:38
7 Katie Huntington Saugus 12 18:40
8 Heidi Hoslet Saugus 12 18:44
9 Sarah Riggs Simi Valley 10 18:45
10 Grace Georgi San Clemente 10 18:50
11 Aubry Carr Dana Hills 12 18:51
12 Kelsey Carroll San Clemente 10 18:53
13 Nina Sassano Saugus 12 18:56 Sac to Woodward conversion
14 Rachel Vinas Simi Valley 12 18:58
15 Kim McNamee Great Oak 12 19:00
16 Elizabeth Hays San Clemente 12 19:02
17 Molly Rinfort Dana Hills 10 19:10
18 Ellie Abrahamson La Costa Canyon 12 19:15
19 Paige Canterbury Dana Hills 12 19:16
20 Miranda Kewley Great Oak 12 19:26
21 Desirae Jones Simi Valley 10 19:20
22 Ashley Helbig Great Oak 11 19:34
23 Alexis Messerly Great Oak 12 19:34
24 Zara Flores Dana Hills 11 19:55
25 Maiya Larsen Great Oak 10 19:58
26 Madelyn Vorgitch Simi Valley 11 20:03
27 Whitney Marsh Dana Hills 12 20:06 Sac to Woodward conversion
28 Callie Hallman Saugus 12 20:37 Sac to Woodward conversion
29 Isabella Dalton Dana Hills 12 20:56 Sac to Woodward conversion
30 Summer Wallen San Clemente 12 20:40 Sac to Woodward conversion
31 Olivia Roselini Simi Valley 10 20:51 Sac to Woodward conversion
32 Julie Steigerwald La Costa Canyon 11 21:04
No surprise here! Saugus always performs their best when it counts most, and it's likely Saugus would win on a tie-breaker because LCC only has five runners, while Saugus has at least 8 that are better than LCC's and Simi Valley's fifth. Saugus is without a doubt a top 20 team nationally:
Saugus 61
La Costa Canyon 61
Simi Valley 71
San Clemente 72
Great Oak 105
Dana Hills 108

I've heard about some team from Upstate NY that might also be considered for a "top three" spot...

I heard something about this team also. I think there's a thread on the team, the so and so legacy or something like that. Oh wait that's Saugus. I think sometimes they win the California states, but this team from NY, don't they usually win some big meet at the end of the XC season also. Maybe if they win it again this year they will be called a legacy also!

That would be really nice, if a NY team could do well enough to be mentioned in the same sentence as those completely dominant California programs.
