Yeah right, Cain is unbeatable. If Hatton takes it out hard, one of them could snag Hasay's record. Or at World Juniors at least.
Another to add in is Hannah Meier. 4:20 last year as a soph (as beat Chapus at Youth Trials), and 4:42 indoor mile win at Nats this year plus 2:06 speed.
Not sure why Hatton is doing the 1500/5000 double. Would love to see her vs. Cuffe in the 3000. Woodward vs Cuffe will be good though

The 3000 is about an hour after the 1500 final.

Right, but you'd think Hatton would do 3k/5k, but I guess she's pretty good at the 1500 as well. Not sure if she can kick with Cain, Chapus, or Meier though, so she'll probably take it out hard.

Don't count out Niki Hiltz(sp), she beat Campus at CA State. She was in the hospital the week before Adidas and still tried to compete.
If she declares, she must be factored in.

Yeah, Hatton has great range. She ran the 4:18 in a New Balance Twilight Meet where Abbey D'Agostino won in 4:16. You can find the race on Flotrack.
Very good range...4:18, no doubt could run low 9 minutes, probably will break 16 in the 5k this summer, and 33:17 a few months ago. Impressive girl. She'll mix it up with Kroeger and Cuffe at Stanford right from the start.

Where are the NCAA girls?
After Friday's prelim, Cain's kick in the Sunday final is at risk. Meier is very strong, and she is peaking. Meier, Chapus, Cain in that order. If there were no prelim, Cain might have the edge the edge.

There is a first round, tonight, with the finals on Sunday afternoon.
The only bad outdoor race Cain has had was last year's NB Nationals. Then she ran a 2:03.74 800 relay leg the night before, going out in 59, obviously pumped on adrenaline (she got the baton somewhat back in 2nd but was in 1st by the 200). Even then, though, she had the second fastest final 100. She also did not have a lot of closing speed at last year's USATF Juniors, where she finished second in the 1500 after a prelim in which she went out way ahead of the field. Given these experiences, I don't think she'll do anything crazy in the first round.
I attribute nothing to her indoor as I think she trained through that, building for this race and, perhaps, the trials and Worlds. She also ran a 2:06/4:21 double in one recent meet and had a quality cross season. Also running a prelim would have the positive effect of allowing her to race with others; the only non-solo race she's had this spring is Penn, and look what happened there.
Also, she's not just a kicker. She won NY States last year wire-to-wire in 4:17, although it was only in the last lap where she opened up her 2-second lead over Cuffe (actually in the penultimate 200).
I'm not saying she'll win. Just that I don't think the fact of there being prelims will be more of an issue for her than it is for the others.
Meier has run four events in both the regional and state finals in Michigan. At the State meet, two weeks ago, she ran 2:08 to anchor the 4x800 relay to a new National federation record, then a 4:43.05 1600m in a 25 mph wind to win by 9 seconds, a 2:08 800m, and anchored the winning 4x400 relay. All in one afternoon with no competition but her twin sister and teammate.
She will be tough to beat.
