he's run 3:37 this year, so he has to drop only about two seconds to get the 1500m A standard of 3:35.50. that is not a huge amount. He should get in one more 1500m before the trials, and not warm up for 2 1/2 hrs beforehand. But it's wise to give the 5000m a shot as well, because milers do very well at that race, he's done lots of strength training and outworks Andrews, and he's run 13:10 in the past, when he was probably a 3:49 miler. It would not surprise me a bit to see him get the A standard in either event. But to make the team over Lomong, Rupp, and Lagat, as well as Ritz and possibly Torrence, is still tough sledding.
Yeah man I was the dude that said he was warming up for 2.5 hours before. It was ridiculous. None of the other 1500 guys were there on the warm up field yet, and he was there doing a slow jog with a weird form. Then rope stretches, then full body drills. Then in the final call area he was doing all of these full body drills, like John Cook stuff. I don't see the point of those for warmup, I thought it was more of a strengthening thing...
The dude just needs to jog for 15 mins, do some active warmups, a few strides, and hit the track for bossmode!
Didn't want to get a picture with him because he and Vig were cursing the sh!t out of everything on the bench after.
