Yeah what a genius. His father won the Olympics his mother won county hurdles titles their son wins a national titel in HS. And they don't exactly live in the depths of Australia. It is not like he was training in the bush.
Had Vin found Kathy Freemand at 16 that would have been impressive.
Was that even Engish?

rare find

By intended major, sociology verbal scores are about the same as chemistry and better than almost all engineering fields. Soc. quantitative scores, of course, are well below. But soc. does fine among the non-sciences. If you want all around aptitude, look at philosophy majors on the graph:

Considering how awful most engineers are at communicating, it's not exactly high praise to say sociology majors beat us on the verbal section.
I wonder if his Dad still has input with Vin in terms of Freddy's coaching/training here in the States.
I do know that Vin is strictly coaching Ovett, much like the Hasay/Wheating relationships with Vin.

He already is the next Ovett...
He's the reincarnation of his Dad. Just in a different way of approaching the top, a slower and wiser way from what I can see. Future stud for sure.
The point is that sociology majors are not dumb. They tie Chem majors in the verbal score and beat them in writing, while obviously losing by a lot in the quantitative. There are various issues of understanding complexities of human societies that you would expect the sociology majors to do better at as well. But on the GRE, physics majors do the best of the scientists, mathematicians, and engineers, economics majors do the best of the social sciences, and philosophers score the best overall on the verbal and the writing, while doing better than most of the humanities on the quantitative and garnering the top scores on the GMAT's, MCAT's, and LSAT's.
Dude its pretty clear that sociology majors are lesser beings. Who would spend $100000+ on something that you could learn by buying a few good books. It's not tough stuff. It's all memorizing stupid terms and writing cliche papers.
rofl, someone got butt hurt because no one worships your silly engineering degrees. most engineers couldn't find their own butthole.

I was going to stay away but this is too good.
The reason the hard science folks are so one-dimensional is because they specialize. Specialization drains time from gaining a broader education, its sad but a reality in the modern era.
Thank God at one point I was considering philosophy and was close to minoring; otherwise, I doubt I would be able to communicate with anyone...
P.S. Maybe engineers cannot find their butthole, but at least they can find Uranus!

True he is the next Ovett. But really, how does DB know that Wheating isn't the first Ovett??
If you're trying to be smart, you failed, that hardly made sense. Stick to the real topic.
does anyone know if Vin actually personally, like one-on-one, coaches Freddy?
And your sentence is hardly proper English

Wasn't so wise in the past. Overtrained, producing impressive results, but was injured frequently in early teens. Hit a flat patch as a result. Hopefully, wiser now, and the American college system won't screw him up, like it has a number of other prodigious Aussie talents.

Because back in the '70s/80s, a guy named Steve was the first Ovett!
This is so wrong. I know Freddy. 1. He never gets injured. 2. His dad under-trained him, I know that for a fact. I also know that his Dad has made sure Vin brings him up VERY slowly. This is from the horses mouth so to speak. Steve Ovett is a smart guy when it comes to running and the way he has handled Freddy... you will see in a little why how well he has actually done it.
Whenever I was on the track with my group doing lots of longer stuff. Freddy would sometimes be there, with his dad, dressed in a full tracksuit in the heat of the aussie day, doing easy sprint work, always laughing and having a good time with his dad. They have a very good relationship.
The kid needs to sort his ego out, My friend chats to him regulary and he is the most arrogant kid I know. Never going to make it with that attitude ! Just cause your Dad's a legend doesn't mean you are !
Far from the truth. Ovett Jr has made a great impression here in Eugene. Very likeable guy. His 'aussieness' is probably just misread by your 'friend'. Good guy and wish him the best, looking forward to seeing him run very well in the near future.
