the rule is NOT BS and i hardly "admitted it." you clearly don't know the rules so i don't know why i am responding. for example, there is no such thing as "taking too many seconds to pass." the rider being overtaken -- not the one passing -- has the duty to drop out of the zone and will be penalized if the pass takes too long. punching someone in the swim is NOT allowed but it mostly is impossible to enforce.
now you have given us an additional moronic point today -- that the rulebook is "meaningless." very funny. it most definitely isn't meaningless. you might want to consult a dictionary.
contrary to what you believe, the fact that you have done several local sprints doesn't qualify you to opine on how rules are enforced in triathlons across the board. it would be like going to a local 5K with 100 entrants that has a bunch of 10 years olds on the starting line who sprint the first 100M and then concluding that the NYCM is a joke because it, too, has kids at the front who sprint the first 100M.
get back to us when you do an IM or HM and actually have some experience with how penalties are assessed in important triathlons. in the meantime, go back to your local running races.
