I do not think one can only blame Title IX. The law was written so broadly that courts and lawyers had many cases. What emerged was essentially a quota system that did not recognize the vast difference in interest in playing sports between men and women at the collegiate level.
I think college men are a bit more delusional. Women are more pragmatic. They go to college to get ahead (and now outnumber men on college campuses).
