A couple years back I bought CDs of some of the groups I listened to in the '70s. Foreigner--yikes. The years have not been kind to that music.
Boston's self-titled debut album, OTOH, has held up pretty well. And one of my kids made off with the Foreigner CD, so it's all good.
kid rock and limp bizkit in high school, just terrible. also Insane Clown Posse. oh my god, i'm simply ashamed. can't believe they haven't been mentioned yet.
You are way wrong about the Smiths. They were a great band!
Oasis
The Cars are pretty great.
For a while I thought Puddle of Mudd was the greatest band ever.

Okay, so I am by no means defending Sugar Ray as a band, but their lead singer Mark McGrath (or something like that) is a real standup guy that does a ton of philanthropic work. He is also a decent actor. He is also engaged to his high school sweetheart, which is kind of endearing.
Basically, even if the band sucks, I can't hate them b/c he seems like a decent guy. Honestly, I could not tell you one song other than the one you mentioned.
I don't hate them at all. I loved that song, but almost all of their other song actually do suck.
Thats right, and thankfully so. Pretty much everything ive heard in the past few decades has been worse than what I discovered as a kid. There's a reason the music of the 60s and 70s has had such influence and staying power: it was good. 30 years from now not a single dickhead will be talking about Train or Kings of Leon. But 40 years after his death, people are still amazed by Jimi Hendrix.
LMFAO. God they are facking terrible. I will admit their first album was enjoyable. 'Yes' was good and 'shots' is the worst song on that album. But their new songs are just garbage.
A Perfect Circle and Tool for me.
That guy Maynard Keenan is a complete tool(pun intended).
Lenny Kravitz
Jack Johnson
Ben Harper
Shaggy.

Really?
Do you realize that you just sound like an idiot when you say this? You list two crappy corporate rock bands as evidence?
Do you need some recommendations? I am not being a dick, I would love to turn you on to some good stuff. What kind of music do you like? I'll give you 5 bands to check out. Hopefully you'll like them.
For me it was Howard Jones and Depeche Mode. I will listen them because of the memories of the time but their music was not as good as I remember

This is correct. There's lots of very, very good stuff out there right now, just as much as in the past, actually. You just have to know where to look. Hint: it's generally not on the radio.
