A teammate was talking about the Arcadia boys 3200 from this past weekend where something like 6 or 7 state records were set.
He made the comment that he thought that a time shouldn't be a state record unless it was actually run in that state. His argument was that not all runners in states have access to out of state elite meets, and that altitude, weather conditions, competition are often dramatically different.
I had never really thought about it.
Anyone care to give any thought pro/con? Do any states actually not allow out-of-state times for their records?
