Elijah Armstrong, a freshman, of Pocatello, ID ran 9:04 for 3rd place at Arcadia in the Seeded 3200. This is impressive!! Its got to be as good or better than recent high school stars (Ex. Fernandez, Lowe, Puskedra, Derrick, Finnerty, Lutz) Discuss

Really an outstanding race, especially for a freshman. Unfortunately, too many of these prodigies come and go...injuries, maybe he's already really physically mature, discovers girls, realizes there's more to life than running, etc. Obviously, i would be overjoyed to see him incrementally improve and become the next great US star...hope he can maintain it!
Meh. Andrew Gardiner from Mead, currently a junior (6th at Footlocker this year) Ran a 9:01 3200m as a freshman.
That's only 3 seconds faster?? And he didn't really improve that much. Don't get me wrong, 3rd place at Footlocker is obviously impressive, but you'd think someone with the talent to run 9:01 as a freshman could produce better results than that. My guess is he was already training hard and putting in lots of miles at a young age.
Jesus the kid looks like a wrestler

Seeing him running that race reminds me of Gerry Lindgren, with his quick stride and relentless pushing the pace.
Awesome!
I'd not seen him before but am now a huge fan of Elijah Armstrong!
Terrific race on what was clearly one of the nights ever ( weather wise) for a 3200....
