So basically run a 12k race? Sorry, no. Bad idea.

Tough workout, but that impossible?
Definately not.
That's about a minute off the girls high school record, so take about 50 slower than the guys' high school record and it's like 6x1600 @ 4:42. Maybe 8x1600 because guys have more endurance or whatever. Tough, but more than just Cheserek could do it.
Does this girl not do high school xc or track? If not good for, amazing workout! If this is the case, why not?
From what I can gather on her blog, she doesn't run with her HS XC or track teams.
Closest comparable workout: I have a junior who did 5x1600 on the track in 5:40/5:30/5:25/5:20/5:15 with 3min standing rest. She wasn't/isn't training for a HM.
That would be a hard workout for most college women but for a handful of them.
Watching the video made me very sad. She will never run in college. When are parents going to start butting out of their kids lives.
You don't know! How can you say that? Not many kids I know, playing high level anything, still do it in college!
Can't believe that people fall for this. I'm going to make a video of myself running repeat "4:20's" and post it on YouTube.
No I don't know for sure but I have seen it dozens of times. If I was gong to make a wager I would bet we won't hear much of her again on the college level.Who trains as a high schooler to run 10K and half marathons? How many years do you think a girl is going to want to go the track and do crazy workouts.
I suppose we not hear much about her, she might decide to do something different. Again, how many kids continue into college? I hope well for her and I don't know were she will end up. I'm glad she has something to focus on, and maybe she does do some of it to please her dad. Is that better than not caring about her dad and getting involved with some bad stuff? I have a daughter than is very close to Alana in ability, she doesn't do the training that Alana does. We have decided to take the more accepted safe road. I still would not tell Alana's dad he was wrong, his choice, her choice. He could do much worse for his daughter than training her!
I know there are a few girls in Texas who can do similar workouts. Whether they do or not is a different story.
