Mr Wheating is not suited to indoor running. ...
Still making excuses re: Robby Andrews.

Haven't heard from Wheating in almost two years now. Is he still in the game or burned out?

The Sooners do have quite the mile contingent, so I can see how someone would be jealous/criticize.
I think Wheating has plenty of fire and desire to succeed. But I do question if he is mentally prepared for the strict regimentation needed to be an elite professional runner. I'm not necessarily saying he doesn't have that. Just that he may have gotten this far without that because of his talent.

He ran for OU?
Didn't he poop on top of Edward Cheserek's poop at Footlocker?
Everyone knows that indoor track season is party season for Wheating.
Wheating is such a talent, winning has come easily to him compared to many runners. I could see how he would start backing off once he realizes that winning is going to start becoming much more difficult than it was in college.
always liked this guy, for both his talent, his personality, and what seemed to be a very genuine enjoyment while he was out there on the track.
hope to see him reappear.
Hey is that Paul Craig posting on Letsrun?!

It isn't as if he had a bad year last year. He went through the season a bit banged up, and got sick on top of it, still hit some 3:34, 3:35 races, and made World's.
He has had problems with indoor in the past, with his height it isn't suited as well to him and he is likely waiting to debut outdoors, make sure he's healthy this Olympic season.
Clearly Wheating has a fan base. I'm honestly not sure where this "party guy" persona came from that everyone's projecting onto him...the only possibility that I could hazard to guess is that because he looks like he's having fun, he sometimes wears beads, and his hair can look goofy at times. Oh wait, I guess that does check all the boxes necessary to qualify!
I'm expecting big things from Wheating this outdoor season...rested ready, and mature enough to handle the prep necessary to succeed on the world stage, and in races with multiple heats.
Go AW!
Dude has no motivation. Gets a contract and then disappears ala Alan Iverson. He'll reappear sometime in a couple of years when his contract is up. Get 6th at some secondary meet, Phil Knight will have on Oregon goggles and waste another hundred grand on him. Of course you the consumer will pay for all this.
sad but true
2008 Olympic Trials 800 final. The video doesn't do justice to how loud and energized the crowd at Hayward Field was. My all-time favorite experience as a spectator at a sporting event. I still get chills.
Wheating is a bust. After teasing us with his 3:30 1500 in 2010 (?) he's basically done nothing. I don't expect anything out of him in the future.
Also, his twitter posts suck.
Saw Wheating at the track yesterday running at least 6 400m repeats. I timed a couple, and he ran 58 high looking very relaxed with about 60 seconds rest.
Saw Wheating at the track yesterday. I was waiting for a group to do a long run, and watched his workout. He ran 5 x 200 in 26, then finished with 400 in 55, 800 in 1:52, 400 in 52.
I saw a werewolf drinkin a pina colada at Trader Vic's and his hair was perfect.
800 thou a year can make anybody soft.
Probably could. Are you implying that Wheating's compensation has also had an adverse effect on him? Because you're off his figure by about a factor of 8.

Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
