Outside of football, which I believe will hurt itself because of safety, will club sports take over for high school athletics? You have aau basketball, club soccer, lax, baseball, etc. Add to that shrinking school budgets.

Most kids dream of playing for their high school team. I don't see that changing.
Think the thread title might have been more apt if it said college instead of hs.
I hope so - most high schools in my area are sprawling athletic complexes that just happen to be on the same property as an educational facility.
Giant LED displays, turf infields, tracks that were better than I had in college, huge stadiums, stadium lights, etc. and the schools all complain that they don't have enough money for education.
Yes.
Should they? No. But clubs charge 15k a year for the false promise of scholarships, etc. but parents buy in. They already have for soccer, tennis, basketball. Private coaches are also getting overly involved in xc, track, baseball, football, etc.
Preaching the individual is greater than the team is wrong. If you are talented you youth coach doesn't matter.
