also, soccer entails a lot of cutting and quick stops. it's hard on the body. i quit playing soccer and took up long distance running because my body couldn't take soccer any longer.
12 km is about 120 times all the way from one end of the field to the other. That would mean going from one end of the field to the other every 45 seconds.
