6 seconds difference.
this thread reminds of the very in depth analysis someone gave of Russel Brown's 2010 pre classic mile (3:56) versus his 2011 race (3:51). it was around a similiar difference to the question you pose.
I agree with hioasdfbjk, 6 second difference sounds about right. might i also add it seems the 4:12 would be faster.
More calories used for the 4:12, assuming the persons mass remained equal.
Running the last 800 on pure hate.

no difference, those are like the same times. if you can run 4:18, then keep doing what you've been doing and wait a few more months.

That's what my coach said to me in 1980. It's been 32 years now.

true or false?
Wind, a few degrees cooler, maybe clouds instead of sun?
Or the perfect pace / race where you were in the hunt for a big title?
Slept good the night before?
But year, 6 seconds sounds about right.
2.3%
4:12/4:18 = 97.something%
one of them has an 8 at the end, and the other has a 2.
no difference. Both are off the podium
1 race
For a highschooler either time should get them top 8...
@ timemachine
4:12
We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it;
vs.
4:18
Some of you have become arrogant, as if I were not coming to you.
I'd say 4:12 sounds better.
Are you a girl?

true or false?
It's false. The two runners will burn the same amount of calories while running the mile. However, the 4:12 runner will burn ~3 more calories beyond that during the six seconds it takes for the 4:18 guy to finish, so in a way it is true.
4:12? 4:18? How about 4:20, BRO!!!!!
