I've been trying to convince my friend (16 years old) to run competitively, a few months ago i finally gave up and decided if she doesn't want to do it I can't convince her. But now she's contacted me and wants to try it out. In Junior high she ran track for one year but i think she was in an event that was too short. She's a bit slow sprint wise but I think she could be really good in cross country and the 3200. She's probably got the highest pain threshold of anyone I've ever know in my life, boy or girl. This girl has good form and has shown some amazing aerobic endurance. She beat the best runner at our school in the beep test in junior high and nearly every boy. Scoring a 103. But its been a while since she's ran. How should I start her off with training? Try to get as much as possible out of the aerobic engine with mileage? what should the starting mileage be at?
