Nope, I wouldn't call him "way" off. Off the top of my head, that's at least close to the pace that the 2008 5k finished at.

That's not impressive, considering that's the pace most olympic 5k's are at the last 3 laps.
Well, considering that in ideal conditions with rabbits the absolute best Mo Farah could possibly run in a 1200m race would be 2:48, to have run 2:51 (assuming he did) in practice is extremely impressive.
He was wearing plimsoles.
2:51 is about what a 4 minute miler could run flat out.
Go out and run a mile 6 seconds off your all-time best, rest 3 min, run 1200 at your mile all-time best pace, then another 800+400 at your mile best pace, and get back to us skippy.

That's not that hard if it's an old best time.

I saw O'Lionaird tweeted that he ran 2:55 and a 400 PR in the same session at altitude.
Beating a world 1500 finalist by four seconds at a distance ~1/4 the length of what he usually races is pretty solid.
I watched o liniards session.
Him, Rupp and Ross Millington did a 1200 in 2.55, then Rupp did an 800 in 1.54? and then O Linirad did a 400 in 48. Rupp then did a few more 1600m efforts in sub 4.30.
Was all done on the Albuquerque (200m banked) track last weekend.
Was a very strange session. People were coming in and dropping out all the time. I'm not convinced everybody knew what they were doing. Was impressive by Rupp however!

Webb was a lot better off running killer time trials then losing to College freshman and racing into shape. His confidence must be shot and he might\'ve potentially injured himself after that recent fall.
OK by me wrote:American record at mile
American born record at 1500m
#1 time in the world at both plus #2 time in the world at 800m.
A few GP victories and 3 USATF Championship victories.
THAN losing to college freshmen. Jesus, it\'s not that hard

Sounds like what Webb used to do, run sick time trials in practice. We all see what that got him.
The American record in the mile? Don't see your point. It's as if you think the fact that he ran some fast time trials is the reason he has been running sub-par races as of late.

He's run a lot faster outdoors calm down.
it'd be nice to get more details of this tt
if it was at altitude, then you gotta knock off at least coupla secs for that
then, was it solo or paced somewhat - at 1s/lap for drafting, then you coud knock another 3s for that
so, maybe, this was near : 2'51 - 2 - 3 = ~ 2'46 at sea-level & paced
i'm starting to gain confidence in this line of fit someone asked me to do last year :
50.9 / 1'47.4 -> 2'46.1 , 3'30.9 !!! , 4'47.1 , 7'22.8 !!! , 12'43.8 !!! , 26'37.6
we really coud see some stupendous 3k/5k times from him this year if he so chooses ( but it'd be a dumb move to flog himself on the circuit when there are only 2 races he's interested in - times can wait for next year )
i'm starting to think he coud be unbeatable at 5k, save only the return of a near peak kennster
Mo Farah won a gold and silver medal respectively for the 5000 and 10000M. I agree that the time is impressive. But Mo Farah is impressive by any standard. I don't think this time expands much on what we already thought Farah was capable of.

Nope, try again. I'd maybe agree that 2:58-3:00 is, but 2:51 is 3:48 mile pace. Sorry man, but you're way off.

Do you have a link to the video?
What is an a**hold? Good work sounding cool by cussing on the boards. Classy. At least learn the correct swearword.

Omg!!! He did it OUTSIDE? Wow. Inside is one thing, but OUTSIDE? Really?
I was there.
I've got a few pictures and think I took a video of one of his 400's but that is it.
Post for proof...

Just makes how he's been running all that much harder watch. What an incredible talent. I really hope he can put together one more good season (reach 3:33, maybe even 3:32) and I'd love to see him make another national team. He was too good and too exciting for too long to deserve this kind of an end to his career.
