Next excuse?
Just watched the video. Saw Ritz run a very intelligent and gutsy race, beating numerous Africans.
While it's possible that I don't share coach d's definition of "outkick", I didn't see Ritz "outkick" anyone. I saw Ritz pick off a number of guys over the last three laps, guys that went out really hard while Ritz was running off the back of the group. I saw Ritz come through in 3rd place with a lap to go and finish in 3rd place, "outkicking" nobody. There's no doubt that he closed very well, but the notion that he "outkicked" any Africans is far-fetched.
I am not implying that Alberto's decision making in this situation is right or wrong, simply that coach d's "evidence" is anything but actual evidence. He might be right that a marathon won't hinder an athlete's ability to kick, but this most recent effort at bashing Rupp and Salazar really has no merit.
What coach d fails to grasp is that Alberto's "job" is to do what he believes is in the best interests of his athletes. For Galen it's hard to know if this decision - to skip the OT Marathon - is the right decision, but objective folks might point to Galen's steady progress and improvement over the last ten years as evidence that Alberto has an idea what works for Galen.
Of course it's possible that coach d knows a great deal more than Alberto about what works for Galen and the other Americans who've run 26:48.
Keep up the good work coach d; next time, though, try and include some facts along with your sarcasm.
