Joanie couldn't win today??? How many Olympic gold medalists in the women's marathon have been faster than her time in the heat of L.A. in 1984?

yeah but most of you were on steroids (before they were actually a controlled substance) and who knows what else before the testing really hit.
Idiotic posts like yours are exactly why most of the TOP runners from the 80s don't come on here anymore.
Why don't you read Dick's book Staying The Course for a little inspiration about running instead of bringing your hate and jealousy on here.
Hall doesn't train at altitude. And Tim Tebow throws a football like a middle school girl.
With God on your side, anything is possible.

2. Is he on something (CERA?) that makes altitude training obsolete?
Nothing would ever be more shocking to me than to hear that Hall was on some kind of PED. I'm not accusing others of using PEDs when I say this, but Hall is one of the few on which I'd bet the farm he's not doing anything unethical.

I'd tend to agree, esp given that he likely can get most of the epo benefit from the altitude tent. i would bet that he bends the rules a bit, though. and i seriously doubt that galloway, shorter, etc were on steroids, and if they were steroids are highly unlikely to add any real benefit to a marathon time.

Not talking about the 1990's or 2000's. I am talking 2012 and beyond. The slow Marathons are behind us. Runners like Shubukova (?) and Keitany are going to keep the pace honest. ANd there is more like them coming up...

On the contrary, many biblical scholars consider the Sermon on the Mount his best performance.
The actual altitude of the "mount" from sermon on the mount was probably around under 1000 ft above.
That part of the world is pretty flat man.

You are joking, right? It is about recovery and being able to run more miles at high intensity. I am sure the benefits would be tremendous. If you can recover or do all these workouts at hight intensity, how are you going to improve?

Yeah, it's not like the world record was set 10 years ago in 2002.
Tebo trains at altitude.

jealousy and hate? are you kidding me. i have extensive experience with performance enhancing drugs and athletes at all levels so my knowledge in this area is statement of fact, not opinion, but of cource none of these people will ever admit to what would now be considered cheating. and i didn't say they all did them so take your panties out of your a** and calm down.
and to the other moron who posted that steroids would have no benefit you need to shut the fck up. as joker said they would have a tremendous benefit for runners of all distances. why do you think athletes in 2010 are still being busted for drugs that were being taken since the 1960's to improve performance? Because they don't work, right. idiot.

Why don't you have the guts to post your name on here then and show us all of your facts?
I'll start by posting my name and Dick Beardsley posted under his real name.

I'm not saying it won't help some runners but I think Ryan Hall can run 2:08 or faster not training at altitude and that's far faster then anyone else can run right now in the US.
What does everybody here think Mo Trafeh is capable of running? I just read that runnersworld interview with him, and he is now on my radar big time to have a chance of competing with Hall.

Yeah that's why all the worlds best runners are not only born in Kenya/Ethiopia but born at altitude there
