Well this is really sad. Just sad. I guess he's really finished. I had been holding out hope that he was going to make a comeback. I thought he ran a 4:00 indoors early last year. Very strange choice to even run in this offbeat race.
I have it on video hahaha!!!!
Post the video!!!
Wowee!

Just Wow
Have any of you morons considered that he probably did a workout before the race?
Webb going to the Armory is good pub for the Armory itself and is a marketing opportunity for Nike. He probably tempo'd before and got snuck up on by the college kid.
wow.
Whoa. Err...I mean, wow.
wow.
How is it good publicity to have a guy who can't even run his mile pace lose to a college random.
Wow

Pretty much this. Hopefully it was just an off day or a workout for Webb.

Wrong one, here he just back from altitude training in the mountains and ready for another comeback. The king will regain his throne!
http://englishoneoworst.blogspot.com/2011/11/what-he-rightly-is-king-lear-as-king.htmlPublicity for Nike? Their marquee MD guy just ran slower than the 10k will close at the Olympics.
wow
So you guys want Webb to train until he's in 1:45 shape and not race until then? That's stupid. You can't keep your motivation to train like that without racing. This result shows him where he is and where he has to go and keeps him hungry. I'm not saying he's going to come back and break American records, but if he is, he has to race his way there.
This is bad news. Webb said himself he doesn't want to enter races that he doesn't think he can win. Last year he opened with a four flat mile (non banked), the year before he opened with a 4:04 and 1:52 double (non banked). Now it's a 1:55 on a banked track... Webb we want you to relax with training but not TOO much...
Only 3/100s of a second from a respectable 1:54.99. Get 'em next time, Alan Webb!

This isn't the same Webb as before. Back in the day he could run sub 1:50 any day of the week, whether he was in shape or not.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
