I ran in the first version of the Saucony Kilkenny (not sure when they came out, but I bought my pair about 4 or 5 years ago, I think). The first version of the flat was good for racing, and I eventually ran in the pair for training runs as well. I put in about 1200 miles on the pair, before they got too thin (gravel became more of an issue when I stepped on it wrong).
I tried the second and third versions, but the heel cup was made in such a way that it rubbed my heel horribly. It did not cause blisters; but the problem was worse - bone pain on the back of the heel. I am size 12; maybe size 12.5 would help, but I am not sure how available it is.
Also, how does the 4th version of the shoe compare? Would it likely have the same problems as the second and third version, or would it be similar to the first? Or is it different from all the previous iterations?
