More and more 19year olds? Okay, lets say the unsubstantiated rumors are in fact true (and I have no reason to believe that they are) That makes 2 boys of 40 in this race. How many boys at NXN? I have no idea. If a kid ia stud, he has ample oportunity to prove that to coaches during the regular season, at Footlocker regionals or at NXN. Don't tell me that the presence of 2 foreigners cost some kid a scholarship. That's fearmongering of the worst sort. By the way, you don't think college coaches are clever enough to look at runners and gauge their worth based on a myriad of factors, or do you think they only offer scholarships to kids who finish in the top 10 (or whatever arbitrary number you want to choose) at 1 or 2 races. Incidentally, you could argue that these kids are helping the people who race against them to get scholarships. I know I drove almost 2 hours to see Cheserek run in person, and while I was there I saw good kids race who I would not have seen otherwise. You don't think that happens with college coaches. The publicity those kids bring to the sport helps everyone involved- call it the Tiger Woods effect if you will. Sad that so many small-minded folk seem only to look for negatives in a situation that really has the potential to benefit athletes, coaches, educational institutions, the sport, etc.
