Sorry, but I don't think a relatively inexpensive solution exists for your problem. I've had the same problem as you; the straps last for 2 years and then its off to the local store to get a new timex for 30 dollars (on sale). However, you can buy timex watches on amazon for a even cheaper; like 20 dollars.Are you using the velcro straps or the metallic ones? The metallic ones are more durable (IMHO) but are kind of awkward for running. Of course, the velcro straps get kind of frizzy after a while.

Over the past 15 years, I've burned through 4 Nike watches and 3 Timex watches. In each case, the strap rips after a few years. I actually replaced the strap several times on the Nike watches, but eventually the posts that hold the straps tore out of the base of the watch. The Timex watches do not have replaceable straps.
I'm annoyed at all the $$$ I've spent on running watches. I don't think I'm that rough on them, but I wear them every day.
Any ideas on a running watch with an indestructible strap?
